Emergency Services

Dental emergencies – they never happen at a convenient time!

They can also be scary and overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure how to handle them.

We’re here for you at Rowlett Smiles, so call us right away. We make every effort to accommodate our emergency patients and get you in as soon as possible. Here are a few of the emergency situations we can help with:

Broken or Dislodged Tooth

For teeth that are broken or chipped, do your best to bring all the pieces of your tooth to our office as soon as possible. The more quickly you act, the better chance we have of saving or repairing your tooth.

If your tooth is completely dislodged, try your best to carefully transport it and handle it as little as possible. If you can place it back in your mouth, please do so to protect it. A tooth that is treated within 1 to 2 hours of injury has the best chance of survival, so remember to act quickly.

Soft Tissue Injuries

If your cheek, lip, or gum tissue is injured, the first step is to try to stop or contain the bleeding. Do this with a cold compress and light pressure. Once the bleeding is contained, warm salt-water rinses can be helpful. Contact Dr. Boren for further instructions and to determine if you should be seen.

Abscesses or Dental Infections

It starts off as a little sensitivity to hot and cold, and you probably don’t think much about it. Over time, however, it may gradually get worse and turn into a dull and constant ache, finishing with severe dental pain that may even keep you up at night.

This is usually the progression of an abscess or infection, and it's important to note that it will not go away on its own. Without treatment, you’re at an increased risk for your infection to spread to other areas of your body.

It’s important to act quickly in this situation. Dr. Boren may be able to preserve your natural tooth with root canal therapy, saving you from an extraction and having to replace a missing tooth. Contact our office right away if you’re experiencing dental pain.

At Rowlett Smiles, we understand how stressful an emergency situation can be for our patients, and we’re here to help! Our team is friendly, caring, and well equipped to handle any situation you may be dealing with.

Remember, the most important thing you can do in an emergency is contact our office as soon as possible. This gives your tooth the best possible chance for a successful treatment and recovery.
